8/35 | 10 - Lou Aprile and Al Leyh placing bolster swivel plate blank into lathe chuck Return to MSR&LHA Home page |
Lou Aprile and Al Leyh carefully wrestling the swivel plate into the lathe chuck. This view well illustrates why the chucking bars were welded into place. Note that the chuck jaws are reversed from normal position. The plate will butt against the second level of the jaws, and the top step of each jaw will bear against the edges of the rectangular block to lock it into place during the machining process.
